Analysis of Drought Development and Support for Drought Adaptation in Serbia through Slovak Expert Know-how

Project Objective
The main objective of the project is to improve drought monitoring and prediction in Serbia through cross-border cooperation between Slovak company ESPRIT ltd. and the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Novi Sad. The project focuses on the development of a functional analytical and predictive tool that will enable monitoring of drought development and identification of the most vulnerable areas. This tool will be applicable not only for professional institutions but also for local authorities and the agricultural community.
Project Activities
The project includes:
- Collection and evaluation of historical and current climate data.
- Development of predictive models for drought analysis.
- Testing of tools in pilot locations to verify their functionality.
- Development of a visualisation application serving as a decision-making and planning support tool.
Project outputs will be supported by training activities and expert events aimed at strengthening capacities in climate change adaptation.
Implementation Area
The project is implemented in Serbia, specifically in selected regions, with expert support from Slovakia.
Target Groups
The project targets:
- Research institutions and experts in the fields of climate change and water management.
- Public authorities and local governments.
- Farmers and the wider agricultural community.
Expected Results
The expected result of the project is a sustainable, data-driven drought monitoring system serving as a tool for early drought response. At the same time, the project will strengthen local professional capacities and provide concrete proposals for adaptation measures to reduce the impacts of climate change in agriculture and other sectors.
